Whatever the case, these things are rare. I think it's likely that it simply reduces the kills needed to reach a nice round 0.1% from 607 to 369, although if the new stuff is actually on top of everything else, we now have maximum possible endgame Cosmic chance of 1/762.
#Nexomon extinction xbox update
The latest update does add a couple more charms and a bunch of classic Nexomon, but it's unclear at the moment how this interacts with Cosmic odds. And yes, the enhanced odds do only apply to that one species so if you want a flat 0.1% rate for everything, you'd need to beat up more than 600 of each of the nearly 400 Nexomon - almost a quarter of a million battles, during which time you would hope you'd see more than a few Cosmics even at 1/4,000. It can still go lower, though, although here's where things get wild - you can get that all the way down to 1/1,000 (0.1%, four times the base rate), but doing so requires battling and defeating any given Nexomon 607 times to knock off a single point each time. So, if you're in the endgame with all five charms and a completed database, your Cosmic rate will be up to 1/1,607. it might not sound like much but with 391 monsters in the base game, it all adds up. Next, working through your Nexomon database also helps boost Cosmic rates, with each creature seen chipping off a single point and each one caught lopping off another two.

In addition, the main game has five Cosmic Charms up for grabs, each knocking 50 off the denominator. However, as the game goes on, several factors start to chip away at those odds, so let's run the numbers.įor starters, the base Cosmic rate is slashed twice over the course of the main story, falling to 1/3,500 then 1/3,000 in the second and third acts respectively. How slim? Well, at the start of the game, the likelihood of finding a Cosmic Nexomon are comparable to modern shiny Poké odds at 1/4,000 - a pretty daunting 0.025%, but ever-so-slightly more generous than Pokémon's 1/4,096 (and way nicer than the 1/8,192 in earlier Pokémon titles). Here refered to as 'Cosmic' variations (but not ever explained in-game), you have an extremely slim chance of encountering these unique recoloured versions in non-fixed encounters.

Nexomon is really rather liberal with what it borrows from the Pokémon games, so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised to learn that rare shiny variants of monsters were part of the Nexomon experience as well. Strap in for maths, RNG, challenge runs, and more!

and I've got some pretty gross ideas as to how. So while I've got a second playthrough to look forward to at some point for those last two achievements, I know from experience that both Nexomon lists could be way worse. Kicking this off also locked me out of one of the roaming Legendaries until I beat the new content, although that was never made clear so I still wasted hours running around trying to get the darn thing to spawn. For example, I managed to lock myself out of two achievements by triggering the world-changing effect at the start of the new endgame content added in the latest update, meaning I could no longer encounter and defeat all tamers, let alone twice. But amazingly, it could have been much worse, as you'll see in our second BS GS column. If you've already gone for the Nexomon: Extinction achievements, you'll likely have a few horror stories of your own just based on the game's existing list - while it's not exactly a difficult completion, there are plenty of things that can trip you up.
